Bertie and Indy

Squawk the Parrot, Bertie and Martin

Squawk the parrot, Bertie age 7 in this photo, Martin & Indy the dog welcome you to Bowers Hill Farm (Sarah was taking the photo!)

Stay off the beaten track at this wonderful Cotswold location within our large Victorian farmhouse commanding magnificent views of the Cotswolds, and nearby Bredon & Malvern Hills. The perfect place for touring infamous Cotswold villages & sites throughout Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.

Names you will no doubt have heard of - Broadway, Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Chipping Campden, Hidcote Gardens, Snowshill, Stow-on-the-Wold, Upper & Lower Slaughter, ….. the list goes on. Not forgetting Shakespeare country of course, with Stratford-upon-Avon only 20 minutes and Warwick Castle around 40 minutes drive from the farm.

As natives of the area (Martin's family have been in residence since 1904), so we can tell you all about local country customs and pursuits - join in if you wish, from Morris dancing, point-to-point horseracing, and our own Olympic Cotswold Games with a difference! Meet all the local characters, David the village farrier, Jim the ditch man and Vic our local plum & rhubarb vintner. Martin will warn you about the local plum wine! Learn all about the local history of the area through your hosts and see for yourself the medieval fields, old gas lamps, and lovely antiques that will help capture the days of long gone.

Abbey, the German shepherd dog will greet you as you arrive and lead you to the door where her bark will already have announced your arrival. Hopefully, the tea is brewing by now and you will receive a warm and friendly welcome from hosts Sarah and Martin Bent. Meanwhile, Abbey will be waiting outside patiently for your return in the hope that you will throw the stick she has just found for you.

The approach to Bowers Hill Farm

Our drive

The farmhouse has recently been restored to a high standard and is situated in a lovely, yet remote part on the edge of the North Cotswolds. Peace and tranquillity is guaranteed along with an experience of the real British country life. Relax in our large garden or 40' conservatory and watch the animals graze and the abundance of birdlife.

Bowers Hill is a large secluded Victorian farmhouse set within 80 acres of a mixed working farm. This period property with flagstone floors, bread oven, beamed ceilings and walls exudes a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere which our guests really appreciate at the end of the day, away from all the busy tourist spots and some distance from civilisation.

Bowers Hill Farm

As you travel along the ½ mile-long drive to the farm, through the mature lime trees, you will see animals grazing on either side of the approach. If your visit coincides with the trees bearing their fruit in mid-summer, the hum of hundreds of bees collecting nectar will amaze you and confirm your choice of stay in the Cotswolds. If you are lucky you may see the green woodpecker but you had better be quick, or you could even catch a glimpse of a fox or badger as evening draws to a close. Look around you, the Cotswold Hills; Meon hill and Bredon hill make up the surrounding panorama.

Milo

The patio leading onto the large garden is available for all guests to use and what better way to unwind after a busy day, than to sit relaxing in the garden or in our beautiful 40' conservatory. Listen to nature right on the doorstep with cattle chewing the cud; sheep bleating and birds still busy singing. As evening draws in, sit in front of the log fire (if it's chilly) in our guest lounge.

*If you are prepared with the right footwear, farm walks are available and Martin will give you a personal tour upon request to view crops and animals and talk about UK agriculture. If you prefer to go it alone, we will give you a map of the farm and point you in the appropriate direction.
